Grand Floral Parade Preview

For 45 years the famed Indianapolis Police Metropolitan Motorcycle Drill Team representing the 12th largest city in the United States with a metropolitan area of more than 1.6 million people has led the Grand Floral Parade through the host communities of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor.

The drill team which will lead the 2008 Blossomtime Grand Floral Parade for the 46th consecutive year carries on the rich legacy of the original team founded in 1954. The department is under the direction of Chief Michael Spears.

These motorcycle officers never fail to mesmerize the thousands of spectators who line the parade route in the Twin Cities. The team members are full time police officers who perform with the same motorcycles they use in their daily patrol and traffic enforcement. Lieutenant Bart McAtee serves as the Team Commander, while Sgt Bret McAtee continues in his long time role as Drill Master.
